Product DescriptionOnce a common sight on big city harbours, the Railroad Tugboat was a specialised version of the familiar tugboat. In order to improve visibility over freight cars on the deck of a car float, the Railroad Tugboat was built with a taller pilot house. Starting in the 1920s, many railroads began modernising their fleets with diesel-electric tugs. Not only did they use similar technology to the then-new diesel locomotives, many were painted in the same colourful schemes. These newer tugs remained in service for years, with a few serving new owners yet today.
